2 Timothy 1The Holy Spirit gives us power

"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind" (2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV)

In times of difficulties, it is normal to be filled with fear, feel helpless and powerless. We do not do well with helplessness; it is uncomfortable, and we can find ourselves with very few or no choices to encourage ourselves to find strength. In such situations, we can find hope if we see life from God's perspective. He can help us to not just cope but also to live His life of peace and have strength to encourage others. Paul and Silas when they were in Prison with little choices, chose to worship God by singing and the other prisoners were listening (Acts 16:25).

Jesus Christ, through whom all things were created and sustains all things by His grace, stepped out of glory in Heaven and robed Himself in human flesh. And when He returned to His Father, He made us a promise, "I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you" (John 14:18).

So, let us not be worried about the present circumstances or how the future will be like. Let us not be discouraged by the falsehoods and theories being spread about the COVID-19. That is the work of the devil misleading the people to accept the world viewpoint aimed at spreading fear and desperation. The Holy Spirit who lives in us is the Spirit of truth, He gives us strength to overcome any situation. The power of the Holy Spirit living in us is greater than all the forces coming against us. John tells us that "Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world" (1 John 4:4).

The Word of the Lord tells us, "The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid" (Psalm 27:1) Let us believe and stand upon the Word of God. God our strength through the Holy Spirit living in us to strengthen and empower the Church of Christ.

Thank you, Jesus, for your promise that you will always be with us to comfort us. Let us know that you have not given us the spirit of fear. Help us to trust that in these difficult times, the Holy Spirit living in us will give us strength and power whenever we feel fearful and powerless.
