1 Peter 4We need each other

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. 1 Peter 4:10 (NIV)

The current pandemic has brought out gifts we never thought we had. For the first time, I heard the word Zoom and learnt how to use it, with a lot of help from James. The online Service, Zoom prayer meetings, Zoom Coffees, calls and texts from the people in the Fellowship have really kept me going and felt connected with the Fellowship.

During the current pandemic, we have no doubt appreciated more than ever before the importance of the support we get from others in the Fellowship. We have also learnt the that we need each other. God has given us brothers and sisters through whom we have developed horizontal relationships and become our safe support group. The current pandemic has helped us to concentrate more on the things that bind us together as we build each other. This includes acknowledging that we have been called by the same Holy Spirit, strengthening one faith in God and encouraging each other with hope and love that we have received from Christ, our Lord and Saviour. As we encourage each other, we can find strength to pray and serve the needs of others in the Fellowship and the wider community.

Lord we thank you for the skills that you have given to the people in the Fellowship that have enabled us to keep us connected as a Fellowship, by online Services, Prayer meetings, small groups, pastoral care and to attend the needs of others.

Father, as children led by the Holy Spirit, we pray that this will strengthen and develop strong bonds in us and prepare us for the vision you have for your Church after the pandemic. Let us be ready more than ever, to share your Gospel of hope with those you call us to; help us share with those in need the blessings of money, skills, food, time, by the grace, love and mercy that we have received from you. Amen

Longing for peace, our world is troubled
Longing for hope, many despair.
Your word alone has pow'r to save us.
Make us your living voice.

Longing for food, many are hungry
Longing for water, many still thirst.
Make us Your bread, broken for others
Shared until all are fed.
