Psalm 133

How very good and pleasant it is when kindred live together in unity! It is like the precious oil on the head, running down upon the beard, on the beard of Aaron, running down over the collar of his robes. It is like the dew of Hermon, which falls on the mountains of Zion. For there the Lord ordained his blessing, life forevermore

Just a quick thought for the day today…

I have really enjoyed today in a way that I never thought I would… it has been an unexpected surprise to me and one that has blessed my soul. It has lifted my spirits and made me think more deeply about my joy being 'in the Lord'. The day was long and busy for a variety of reasons, some of which were pleasant whilst others not so much. Yet in amongst it all, like little bursts of encouragement, something wonderful kept happening.

Now, you may be wondering what I am talking about, you may well be thinking ‘James, stop waffling and get to the point’… well, here it is. I have been abundantly blessed by the conversation that I saw happing on the church WhatsApp group. The comments, the humour, the encouragement. It went on all day and made me smile, it made me thankful and it made me feel part of a community that is supporting each other, holding each other in prayer.

Even though I didn’t take part in the conversation today, I did benefit from being in its presence. It reminded me of how precious community conversation is and why it’s important… my heart reflected the words from Psalm 133 above – ‘How very good and pleasant it is when kindred live together in unity!’. Amen to that I say.

It also reminded me that though some in any community may be quieter, or even silent, they may just feel secure knowing they’re part of something safe. Lastly, remember those who may not be able to take part in the CHBC WhatsApp group and give them a call, say hello… be the oil in Aaron’s beard or the dew of Hermon.

Until next time, be safe, be blessed
